Pioneering a Sustainable, Social Enterprise Model for Dementia Care

At The Dementia Foundation, we’re doing things differently.

We are Australia’s first and only self-funding not-for-profit dedicated exclusively to supporting people under 65 living with young onset dementia. Rather than relying solely on donations or government grants, we operate a social enterprise model that generates income through our NDIS-registered care and accommodation services — and reinvests 100% of profits into delivering free support programs, education, research and advocacy.

This model ensures we can offer families specialist, reliable, and ongoing care while remaining agile, innovative, and independent.

Profits with purpose

Every dollar earned through our Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes, robust care models, and in-home community services helps us to:

  • Deliver free community education workshops to families and carers across Western Australia.
  • Raise awareness of young onset dementia through nationwide campaigns, local events, and media coverage.
  • Provide advocacy and navigation support to help families access the right services at the right time.
  • Support collaborative research projects to advance understanding and improve care.
  • Build inclusive networks where people with young onset dementia can stay socially engaged, empowered and heard.

Our model ensures the long-term sustainability of the Foundation, while keeping services accessible and free for those navigating the challenges of a young onset dementia diagnosis—often during their working years, while raising families and managing mortgages.

Every dollar earned strengthens our mission and extends our reach.
