Our Story

The Dementia Foundation was born from the lived experiences of the team at 2Flourish – an established NDIS provider who witnessed firsthand the unique challenges facing younger people diagnosed with dementia.

While aged care systems exist for those over 65, there were no specialist services for those still in their working years — raising families, managing careers, and grappling with a diagnosis that changed everything.

In 2024, The Dementia Foundation was created to fill this urgent gap.

Led by experienced sector leaders Brett Parker and Holly Meijer, the Foundation combines operational excellence with deep personal purpose to support young onset dementia families through care, connection, and advocacy.

Why we exist

We are specialists in Young Onset Dementia (YOD)

We deliver a high-quality, innovative program designed to meet the needs of people living with Young Onset Dementia (YOD)

We occupy a unique position in dementia care, with a specialised focus on YOD. Our model addresses the unique challenges experienced by people diagnosed during their working and family years.

We are driving better outcomes and policy change

We strengthen advocacy within the dementia community and are seeking government support to expand our efforts.

Our work directly supports the objectives of the National Dementia Action Plan, and we want to drive meaningful change.

We want to drive change through better policy, awareness and support pathways.
